SNAP Selling! A new book by my friend Jill Konrath.

I wanted to share this link and video with you as I assume there are a few people who are in some type of sales positions that occasionally read my blog. When I started as a JR Account and Business Development Rep at an interactive agency, I had little to no sales experience. I ended up picking up my first, and likely most valuable Sales book “Selling to Big Companies” by Jill Konrath. It was FANTASTIC. I learned a lot about sales strategies and even using these “new websites” that were just coming out for business professionals like LinkedIn.

After I got in touch with Jill to thank her for helping me quickly hit my sales targets and get promoted up to a VP position using a lot of the things I learned from her we became friends. Lots has changed and grown with online technology (LinkedIn) and the economy since “Selling to Big Companies”. Jill has written a second book “Snap Selling” which recently came out & I am honored to have been included in the book, sharing some of my stories working at Digital Agencies.  Anyhow, she has lots of praise from people and I thought I would share the book with you all as well. I got U-Googleagy’d

Happy New Year readers! Hope that you are having a wonderful start to the 2011!

Thought I would kick this year off with a word that I made up, using a little inspiration from Ben Stiller – and a cross check with Google to see if it matched any documents – which it did not. With the help of Google, I confirmed the creation of something new. Perhaps… Continue reading

Bump Me!

Here’s a quick little plug for a cool app called Bump that I have been using and liking quite a bit.

If you don’t have Bump, it’s a great little app that lets you connect with people you meet by “bumping” your phones together to exchange contact info and your Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook Profiles – and connecting on all platforms based on your settings. The new version is really cool because you can connect with anyone you have in your phone, even without touching the phones like in previous versions! Check it out, its great!

Here is the link.

Cheers!

November Rain…

November was a very busy month – spent a week in New York and attended Ad:Tech NYC. It was great to catch up with old friends and meet some new ones in the tech space.  My focus has been on the film projects over the last year since leaving Rare Method, and I missed quite a few of the digital events that I was attending in the past. Things have been coming along great with Engageia – our team is working with a handful of startup clients as well as a couple of social strategy and rollouts.  We have also managed to secure some more great relationships with private bankers in NYC and are looking forward to working with them as partners in some of our ventures.

I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I intended to be.

I was at a cool restaurant opening last night and was having a discussion about the kitchen. Most people don’t know I actually used to run a very busy kitchen in an open concept Italian restaurant chain when I was in my early 20′s. The chef that calls out all the food orders and makes sure everything is going smoothly throughout the rush, that was me. If you watch any of those cooking shows you know what I am talking about… minus the swearing…. mostly. Started washing dishes and worked my way up through all the stations in the kitchen, and was the youngest person in that position in the company. Had my paperwork ready to go and start on my Red Seal, then decided to take a different path and ended up being a partner in a hospitality group with a couple of nightclubs, lounges and eateries.

I did that gig for a while, it was fun, then I was ready to move on. Chasing girls and being up til the wee hours of the morning is fun, but at some point its time to grow up and leave the rock star lifestyle behind. Sometimes feel like Greenday who have moved past (mostly) wild party day and are more likely to be drinking tea after the show than well… you know. Continue reading

It’s not June Gloom

Winning at life is mastering knowing yourself and the value of your relationships.” – me

I thought I would start this post off with my favorite tweet from June. I feel very gracious and blessed to have so many great people in my life - from friends to business partners and mentors I am very happy to be working with so many amazing people. I have decided to give a few “shout outs” in this post and invite you to check out some of these people and what they do.

June was a great month that started off with a trip to San Fransisco to meet with the team at Catalyst SF. If you have not had a chance to check them out you should visit their website.  The company is headed by CEO John Durham and employs some of the smartest strategic thinkers on the planet. I am honored to have the chance to collaborate and work with them. Continue reading
