I have always been a pretty early adopter of new social media platforms. Some have come and gone and others like LinkedIn have grown immensely since I signed up for them (6 years and thousands of connections earlier). I don’t have anything really bad to say about any of them except for Spoke – its horrible if someone doesn’t have access to the email they signed on with and wants to update their profile. A nightmare for anyone who has changed jobs and didn’t update their email prior to departure.
On a positive note though, I wanted to talk quick about a new social platform that is an up and comer and looks like it has promise…. JIBE – Recently I was introduced to Jibe from a friend – I think this one is pretty neat.
Jibe is a platform that will look at all the professional data that you have on LinkedIn and Facebook. It lets you auto import all your education, work and connections to create a profile. It will also that will tell you if any person who is in your contacts is working at any company your are interested in joining or working with. It also has a points system, so if you want to apply for jobs that are posted you can apply right through the system using the points you have either collected from inviting other users, or purchased with real money.
I have mixed emotions on the Post to Wall function for inviting new friends – I can’t stand people soliciting business on my Facebook wall – its my brand, I have built it, so post on your own. (I have turned this off in settings) Otherwise looks like a home run.
Pop on by and take a peek at Jibe.com if you want to check it out. It takes less than 5 minutes to pull all your info into your profile and your off to the races. If you are looking for a job this is definitely one to get on board with.
Until next time!
